Then, there was nothing for several years. Late last week, Blizzard finally got around to patching Diablo II again nearly 16 years after it was released. Before this latest patch (), the most recent version of the game was 1.13d. That patch was released in 2011 and was mostly aimed at getting modern Battle.net features working in Diablo II. The new patch makes much more substantial improvements to the core game. There are still a lot of people around the world playing Diablo II, and that means plenty of cheaters.
This patch also improves cheat detection and anti-hacking measures. Notes that this is an ongoing effort.
Does that actually mean people are still actively working on Diablo II? It would be wild if this game started getting regular patches rather than a one-off. This isn’t the first time an old game got a surprise patch — Knights of the Old Republic 2 after years of neglect. Some new Max Payne levels?
