This 3 week program is completed at the RCMP’s Training Academy (Depot) in Regina, Saskatchewan. On July 22, 2016, the participants graduated from the APTP program and returned home to work within their communities. Through the program, youth of Aboriginal ancestry will work with RCMP members and support staff to gain valuable work experience. The training at Depot consists of problem solving, law, public speaking, physical fitness, police defensive tactics, drill, & cultural awareness. Once completed, the pre-cadets are posted to an RCMP Detachment in their home province where they will spend the summer months assisting police officers in various aspects of community policing duties. It is extremely rewarding to see how much these young individuals will transform and build up their confidence and skills with just a few weeks of training, says Cpl.
